I used to bartend, and somewhere along the way I got obsessed with the why behind a good drink — not just the recipe, but the balance, the technique, the little details that make something taste like it came from a bar instead of a dorm room.
ShakingWithKatie started because I kept explaining the same things to friends: how to shake versus stir, why fresh citrus matters, what “dry” actually means. I figured I'd put it all in one place — for anyone curious about cocktails who's never quite known where to start.
Every single recipe here comes with a mocktail version, because a good night doesn't require alcohol to be worth celebrating. And nothing on this site requires an expensive bar cart — just a few good bottles, a little know-how, and zero judgment.
